Zoom Workdays

“For the work, it is not necessary to have the person next to you. One can work even from a thousand kilometers away. For inner work, distance does not exist.”
-Gurdjieff, Paris Meetings 1943

Recent Work Days

Sunday, May 2 — Work day hosted by Sally Davis
“I have to learn a little bit more about how to use energy.”

Sunday, March 21 — hosted by Jan Corash & Doug Sprei
“You should start immediately when you think of Work. . . .”

Our focus for the day was on core teachings from M2361 (Sunday lunch segment). A Movements session for all was given by Victor Sirelson and John Heffel.

“. . . Many times you make it so complicated, and you describe such conditions of your ordinary life, and you have such an idea; now I am going to Work. And you have to put everything in order before you can start. You should start immediately when you think of Work, and connect it with the fact of your existence. And then purify it, because the purification is the creation of ‘I’. “
— Mr. Nyland, M2361

Sunday, March 7hosted by the extended Tucson Group

“…the brotherhood ‘Heechtvori,’ which signified ‘Only-he-will-be-called-and-will-become-the-Son-of-God-who-acquires-in-himself-Conscience.'”

“‘In consequence of this, every three-centered being of our Great Universe, and also we men existing on the Earth, must, owing to the presence in us also of the factors for engendering the Divine impulse of ‘Objective Conscience,’ always inevitably struggle with the arising and the proceeding within our common presences of two quite opposite functionings giving results always sensed by us either as ‘desires’ or as ‘nondesires.’

“‘And so, only he, who consciously assists the process of this inner struggle and consciously assists the “non-desires” to predominate over the desires, behaves just in accordance with the essence of our COMMON FATHER CREATOR HIMSELF; whereas he who with his consciousness assists the contrary, only increases his sorrow.’”

Sunday, February 21 — hosted by the Land House group

As an experiment for this Zoom Workday, we had small group breakout sessions, set up by the category of our at-home projects — for example: cooking.  The idea was to create an atmosphere that is a little more like our in-person workdays where we work in teams together and try to bring Work to that activity.  We worked at-home on our projects, but met in teams working on similar projects. Here is a list of the small group categories:

  • Cooking
  • Home Repair/Construction
  • Housework
  • Outdoor Work-Yard, Garden & Snow
  • Shopping & Errands
  • Walking, Hiking, Running, Bicycling
  • Office & Library
  • Arts & Crafts

The Zoom Work Day team comprises Jan Corash, Doug Sprei, Vin Manzi, Su Manzi, Paul Kane, Greg Loy, June Loy, and Wayne Powell.

We are planning for occasional Work Days over the summer. Please contact if you would like to lead one or contribute ideas.
