Gurdjieff’s Teaching in the Groups of Willem A. Nyland

Washington State

Seattle Group

G.I. Gurdjieff devoted his life to finding the real reasons for man’s existence and directly answers to the feeling of dissatisfaction and emptiness many experience. He shows a method to use our existence, as we find it, for spiritual development without needing to remove ourselves from daily life. In this way we can meet our ordinary outer responsibilities and obligations and at the same time address the condition of our inner being.

Willem Nyland, a student of Gurdjieff, was in contact with him for over 25 years and made clear how to apply these ideas in our everyday lives. Mr. Nyland made every effort to remain true and exact to Gurdjieff’s teachings and intent. The Seattle group was started by Mr. Nyland in 1965 and continues today. We are a small group that meets each week to discuss our attempts to apply the principles of Work and the meaning of our experience so as to better understand what life is, what the Earth represents and why, really, we are here.

If Gurdjieff interests you, and you feel a group of people with similar interests would be helpful, please email or phone Nick Toombs at 360-579-2359, or Alan Cole at 360-794-8121.
